An Introduction to Selling AVON

The first questions you may have as a new AVON Representative are; “How does AVON Work?” And “How Do I Get Paid?” The best way to explain how owning your own AVON business works is to just think of AVON Products Inc. as your supplier. As an Independent AVON Representative you get to buy AVON Products at a discount. You then sell the products to your customers at the retail price. Your profit is the difference between the price you sold it for and the price you bought it for.

Example: How you make money as an AVON Representative

Your customer orders a Full Size ANEW Ultimate 7s Regime Kit at the catalog price of $95.00. As a new AVON Representative you get a 40% discount on core AVON products. So, you pay AVON just $57.00 for the kit and keep $38.00 as your “Pay”.

AVON’s One Simple Fee

If you owned your own cosmetics store you would earn profits the same way as you do with AVON. However, if you owned your own cosmetics store in a mall – you would have invested a lot more than just $25 to get started. This is one of the reasons why the AVON business opportunity is so amazing.

In the mall, you would have all kinds of bills to pay each month just to keep your doors open. Things like rent, lights, and insurance eat away at your profits. With AVON the cost to run your “Store” is low.

Like any retail supplier AVON charges a fee for processing and shipping. This is called the “One Simple Fee”. This fee also covers the cost of maintaining your AVON website. You can use the chart below to determine your fee each time you submit your order to AVON.

AVON’s One Simple Fee Chart

Order Size On-Time Orders All Other Orders
$0 – $144 $5.95 $9.95
$145 – $284 $6.95 $10.95
$285 – $424 $7.95 $11.95
$425 – $899 $8.95 $12.95
$900 – $1,549 $9.95 $13.95
$1,550 + $10.95 $14.95

Some representatives choose to offset the cost of running their AVON business by charging each of their customers a processing charge of 50¢ or 75¢.

Charging Your AVON Customers Sales Tax

It is also important that you calculate and charge your customers for sales tax. When you place your order with AVON they will charge you the sales tax.

To determine your area’s sales tax, you add the rate for your city, county, and state. If you don’t know your area’s sales tax rate the website Zip2Tax.com can help you find it.
